eComórtas Ceoil Rules

While the rules are basically the same as for any Comhaltas fleadh (Air (slow or lively), Reel, Polka, Hornpipe, Jig (double, single, slip), Slide, Set Dance, March, Mazurka, Planxty, Fling, Barn Dance, Schottische, Clan March, only solo entries are accepted and, of course, it's virtual. Because of the audio only format, the adjudicators are judging blindly so their selections will be based your sound rather than any other factor.

Since the eComortas Ceoil was originally designed to replace the Midwest Fleadh in the pandemic, competitors who would have competed in the US Midwest Regional Fleadh will be adjudicated in the Midwest Category and those outside of that fleadh territory will be adjudicated in the Global category. The competition is designed to give solid feedback from All Ireland class adjudicators to help musicians grow. Awards will be given to a Gold, Silver or Bronze standard.

Entry fees are $17 per competition and incldue adjudicator's comment sheet for Comhaltas members and $27 for nonmembers.

Note: Please do not push the timing to the limit of May 26 in case you have issues uploading your file. Once you submit your recording, that will be your final submission; you will not be able to redo it. Regretfully, we will not be able to refund entry fees for entrants who fail to submit recordings since we will have already invested in judges, awards, etc., based on registrations.

Submit your recordings using this form (https://neartail.com/us/ecomortas21). If you entered last year, you’ll notice we’ve streamlined the process a bit. Your entry info and recording are entered together.

We wish you the best of luck!
