COVID-19 Awareness Statement

The Midwest Fleadh is moving forward as scheduled; however, actions will be taken to ensure the safety of competitors, volunteers and adjudicators, which may include limiting the number of people permitted in competition rooms, free standing hand sanitizing stations, and other protocols related to the safety of attendees. We are hosting three events as part of fleadh expansion:

Mná na hÉireann (Women of Ireland) Exhibit on loan from the Consul General of Ireland, including album and book signing events throughout the day on Saturday, May 16, by Katie Grennan, Eileen Gannon, Amy Dayries-Ling and more.

Understanding Phrasing in Irish Music is a 90 minute workshop that will be taught by our fleadh adjudicators from 10-11:30 on Sunday, May 17. This is focused on melody players. If you are planning to go to Ireland or compete next year, the information in this workshop could be a game changer for you. The cost is $25 per person in advance, $30 at the door. (Minimum of 10 players must register.) Ceili with music by our fleadh adjudicators and local players from noon to 2, on Sunday, May 17. The cost is $20 per person.

Tentative Schedule
Friday, May 15
6 p.m. -- Duets and Trios
6 p.m. -- Solos competitions with minimal-entries (typically with 1 to 2 entrants) where competitors agree to compete on Friday.

Saturday, May 16
9 a.m. -- Solo competitions begin (estimated finish time: 4 p.m.)
6 p.m. -- Band competitions begin (estimated finish time: midnight)
All Day -- Mná na hÉireann (Women of Ireland) Exhibit

Sunday, May 17
10-11:30 a.m. -- Phrasing in Irish Music Workshop
